President Obama

Obama may have an interesting place in our country's history if things work out for him. He clearly represents the passing of the Baby Boomers out of the head office, and also represents a dark skinned politician making it to the world's top office (though often referred to as American's first black president I guess I should point out that he is just as black as he is white (50%), and that therefore also makes him the nations 44th white president...but I digress). He will surround himself with either thinkers or the democratic olde guarde...or a mix of both. Something I am sure will happen...maybe its the pessimist in me...or maybe just the realist...what will happen is that the Democratic party ran a ticket with Obama about CHANGE. The problem is the country thought they meant "Change the way our government works for the people" and the Democrats thought change meant "Change from Bush, back to Democrats". I think Obama also feels it meant the former or he would not have been able to connect as well with the people. People love change, except when it means they have to, and politicians are like those restaurant owners on Kitchen Nightmares. They think they are doing a great job but they can't figure out why their way sucks.
Regardless, I think there will be a big split in the democratic, as well as republican parties. If Obama wants to make real change he will definitely piss off a lot of his former colleagues (like the no earmarks in the stimulus bill request) and I hope he keeps doing it. I hope this makes people not re-elect the dumb, do-nothing, wasteful, irresponsible people that we have had running the congress for what seems like forever. Good luck Mr Obama. I did not vote for you, but I hope you do what you said you would and bring real change to Washington.
